PETALING JAYA, September 20, 2015 – The BHPetrol Orange Run marked an exciting milestone this year as it celebrated its tenth run. The annual run has grown over this past decade while staying true to its aim of promoting healthy living as well as giving back to the community through its contributions. .

Managing Director of BHPetrol, Mr Tan Kim Thiam said, “Today is a special day for us. There was indeed a high level of excitement as we kicked off the run this morning. This would not have been possible if not for the strong support from the participants and our partners. We sincerely thank all those involved for creating a meaningful journey with us.”

He added, “This further demonstrates the spirit of Malaysia Day and Malaysians coming together regardless of race and creed for a good cause. With this being our tenth annual run since we first began in 2006, it signifies that Orange Run is truly a crowd favourite, and we look forward to keeping this yearly affair alive and kicking for many more years to come.”

In line with BHPetrol Orange Run’s commitment to giving back to the community, a total of RM30,000 was contributed to Damai Disabled Person Association Malaysia, The National Autism Society of Malaysia and Pusat Harian Kanak-Kanak Spastik Bandar Ipoh.

Thousands of participants were flagged off at the Curve, Mutiara Damansara by YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lodin bin Wok Kamaruddin, Deputy Chairman/Group Managing Director of Boustead Holdings Berhad. The 12-km trail comprised main areas of the Mutiara Damansara Commercial Centre.

Participants from all walks of life and of different age groups joined in the run, from as young as 13 years, with various categories including Men Open & Veteran, Women Open & Veteran, Boys & Girls and Men & Women International Open. The winners of each category walked away with cash prizes amounting to a total of RM50,000. The first prize winners of each category received a total of RM8,000, second prize winners from all categories received RM5,600 in total, while third prize winners all received a total of RM4,000 worth of cash prizes. The fourth and fifth prize winners also received consolation prizes of RM300 and RM200 each.

The BHPetrol Orange Run 2015 was made possible in collaboration with Polis DiRaja Malaysia, Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, eCurve and AFFIN Bank. Participants and visitors were also entertained by various carnival-themed activities including product offerings and samplings by several companies within the Boustead Group.
