KUALA LUMPUR, July 14, 2011 – Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn. Bhd. (BHPetrol) will be organising its sixth annual Orange Run on July 24 this year with 5,000 participants expected to take part. The much-anticipated Orange Run 2011 is a joint collaboration with Polis DiRaja Malaysia, Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya and Affin Bank.
The aim of this run is to raise RM30,000 in donations for three charity homes in Kuala Lumpur, namely Rumah Sentuhan Budi, Yayasan Sunbeams Home and Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam.
Managing Director of BHPetrol, Mr. Tan Kim Thiam said, “The money which is raised from the Orange Run 2011 will be used to help the needy from three charity homes. This is a small way in which we can help the society and give the less fortunate a better living standard”.
“The run is also part of the company’s on-going efforts in promoting the 1Malaysia spirit while inculcating healthier living among Malaysians and fighting obesity. We look forward to seeing participants from all walks of life and age groups coming in to support good health and a good cause.”
Winners stand a chance to walk away with cash prizes and BHPetrol vouchers, all totalling to more than RM50,000.
This annual run will kick off at 7am from the Royale Bintang Hotel at the Curve with participants completing a distance of 11km around the Mutiara Damansara area, passing through the Bandar Utama residential area and finishing back at the Royale Bintang Hotel.
The Orange Run 2011 has eight categories that cater to the interest of a variety of participants: men’s and women’s open, men’s and women’s veteran, men’s and women’s international open, boys and girls. An entry fee of RM5.00 per participant will be charged to help raise the funds for the three charity homes. BHPetrol will top up the total amount raised from the entry fees to make it a total of RM30,000.
