Free Health Checks by the Boustead Group in collaboration with Transformasi Nasional 2050

PETALING JAYA, February 23, 2018 – The Boustead Group today launched an initiative in a move towards achieving the aspirations of Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) through its Skuad Operasi Sihat Negaraku TN50 (SOSN TN50). In an effort to encourage more Malaysians to take better care of their health, SOSN TN50 will provide free health checks for the public at selected BHPetrol stations.

A programme by the Boustead Group, Pharmaniaga Berhad and BHPetrol, SOSN TN50 is a collaborative effort with the Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) Youth Initiative, and is a response to the aspirations of Malaysian youths to have more accessible healthcare services and better awareness to take charge of their own health.

The launch was officiated by YB Brig. Jen. Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Youth and Sports, alongside YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin, Deputy Chairman/Group Managing Director, Boustead Holdings Berhad, Dato’ Farshila Emran, Managing Director, Pharmaniaga Berhad and Mr Tan Kim Thiam, Managing Director, BHPetrol.

YB Brig. Jen. Khairy Jamaluddin said, “Malaysia is the most obese country in the Southeast-Asian region, leading to rapidly rising rates of serious health issues and non-communicable diseases. Combined with the fact that Malaysia will have an ageing population by 2050, it has become imperative more than ever for Malaysians – especially the youth – to take ownership of their health. As the generation who will inherit and steer this nation towards 2050, they must begin to take proactive steps today and ensure that their health is made a top priority.”

YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin said, “SOSN is an initiative which was first established by Pharmaniaga in 2007, providing basic health checks across Malaysia, particularly in rural areas. As we join hands with TN50 to organise SOSN TN50, the Boustead Group is pleased to support the Government and the objectives of TN50, instilling the message for all Malaysians to be more health conscious.”

Under the SOSN TN50 initiative, there will be free health check activities at selected BHPetrol stations once a month. The public can monitor their Body Mass Index, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, as well as consult with medical practitioners.
